Meine Reise

Vom 26.

First week in Melbourne

Today it's been exactly one week in Melbourne and my mum had to remind me that I still haven't written another post ;) so here it goes.....

.... So far I've seen the Melbourne City, Sovereign Hill in Ballarat and Phillip Island!

I liked it all very much and I can't wait to see more! I love Melbourne, it's a great mix of English and American ways with a lot of Asian people in it (hopefully no offense taken by me saying that ;)).
The city has a nice skyline and a lot of great shops and parks! There's a free city circle tram and a free city bus which is great and I think all big cities could use something like that! It's a great way of seeing the big spots and just hop on and off whenever you feel like it :)

Sovereign Hill is cool too. It's an "old city" where there used to be gold mines! There's a lot of stuff to see and do and I went there with my former aupair-kids and their current Aupair Freddie! We went on a gold mine tour (actually two;)), looked for gold (I found two little pieces but lost them :D) and saw how the old wooden wheels are made. It was fun and the boys liked it a lot!

The last two days I spent on Phillip Island with Tim (former host-dad), Freddie and the boys! They have a little "beach house" there and we stayed overnight so we could watch the Penguine Parade. We also went to the koala conservation centre, saw the Nobbies and I had a wonderful meeting with a big huntsman spider in my room ;) today I went up at 6am and went to the beach with Freddie. We waited for the sun to come up and then went swimming in the sea! At first it was really cold, but after 5min I never wanted to come out again :D Unfortunately I had to, but it was so nice being in the water and seeing/feeling all the big waves! It was a perfect start into this wonderful day and I can't wait to do it again sometime soon!

On saturday I'm going on a 2-day tour along the Great Ocean Road and next wednesday I'm leaving for Sydney! I will post more as soon as I'm back from my tour (and awake enough to do so ;)).....
